FUEL PUMP RELAY

Ignition ON

 

Press F5 key in the system main menu, using the arrow keys select the desired test and confirm with YES. Follow the instructions in the TECH 1 Display.

 

Note:

The fuel pump relay is actuated at a frequency von 1 Hz. The test is completed after a maximum of 30 s.

 

Alternating

INACTIVE   12V

ACTIVE        0V

If the relay has been activated, the fuel pump must be running

Trouble-shooting:

Nominal Value:

Cause of Fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

·   Ignition ON,

·   Engine running at idle speed

 

Idle OK

 

·   Engine starts:

·   Lead interruption

from:      control unit K 57/K 91

to:          TECH 1

·   See Table 1

or

·   Control unit defective

 

·   Ignition ON,

·   Engine running at idle speed

 

Idle OK

 

·   Engine does not start:

·   Lead interruption

from:      reference sensor P 35

to:          control unit K 57/K 91

·   Short circuit in wiring harness

from:      reference sensor P 35

to:          ground

·   Lead interruption

from:      injector nozzle Y 7 (1-4)

to:          control unit Ter. C 10; Ter. C 11

·   Short circuit in wiring harness

from:      injector nozzle Y 7 (1-4)

to:          ground (see trouble code)

or

·   injector nozzle defective

·   See trouble-shooting in test step 08
