REPLACE ECU OR PROM

-

·   Self-test of program memory

     The check sum calculated by the control unit and the number stored in the program memory (EPROM) do not match.

or

     The program memory identification number read by the control unit is not correct.

·   The fault is recognised immediately

Effects:

·   The engine does not start.

·   The engine telltale is ON

Note:

If trouble code 51 was recognised, carry out the following instructions:

Disconnect battery;

Connect battery again;

Delete trouble code and read out trouble codes again;

If trouble code 51 occurs again: replace program memory;

Delete trouble code again and read out trouble codes;

If trouble code 51 occurs again: replace control unit;
