Test  

Work Order Description  

Nominal Value  

T01  

Check: Short to Ground/Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit  

 

 

•  Ignition OFF  

•  Disconnect wiring harness connector from:  
Y15 Valve - Secondary Air Injection  

•  Ignition ON  

•  Select and enable diagnostic tester actuator test:  
AIR CONTR. SOL  

•  CURSOR UP key pressed  

•  Refer to B-5 F5: ACTUATOR TEST Test11 AIR CONTR. SOL  

•  Measure voltage between the following terminals:  
Y15 Valve - Secondary Air Injection  
Wiring Harness Connector Terminal 1  
&  
Ground  
 
 
 

greater than 11 V  

 

Yes: T02  

No: T04  

T02  

Check: Short to Ground of Signal Circuit  

 

 

•  Connect test light to:  
Y15 Valve - Secondary Air Injection  
Wiring Harness Connector Terminal 1  
&  
Y15 Valve - Secondary Air Injection  
Wiring Harness Connector Terminal 2  

•  Select and enable diagnostic tester actuator test:  
AIR CONTROL SOL.  

•  CURSOR DOWN key pressed  
 
 
 

Test light OFF?  

 

Yes: T03  

No: E03  

T03  

Check: Interruption of Signal Circuit  

 

 

•  Select and enable diagnostic tester actuator test:  
AIR CONTROL SOL.  

•  CURSOR UP key pressed  

•  Refer to B-5 F5: ACTUATOR TEST Test11 AIR CONTR. SOL  
 
 
 

Test light ON?  

 

Yes: E01  

No: E02  

T04  

Check: Short to Ground/Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit  

 

 

•  Measure voltage between the following terminals:  
Y15 Valve - Secondary Air Injection  
Wiring Harness Connector Terminal 1  
&  
Ground  

•  Select and enable diagnostic tester actuator test:  
AIR CONTR. SOL  

•  CURSOR UP key pressed  

•  Refer to B-5 F5: ACTUATOR TEST Test11 AIR CONTR. SOL  

•  Disconnect each of the following components/control units consecutively from the wiring harness and repeat the measurement each time:  
X10 Multec & Valve, Injection  
Y34 Valve - Fuel Tank Ventilation (Evaporation Control Valve)  
 
 
 

greater than 11 V  

 

Yes: E04  

No: E05

•  Circuit interruption between:

Wiring Harness Connector Terminal 2

K57 Control Unit - Multec  
Wiring Harness Connector Terminal A11  

or  

•  Defective component:  
K57 Control Unit - Multec  

 

 
 
 
 

E03  

•  Short circuit to ground between:  
Y15 Valve - Secondary Air Injection  
Wiring Harness Connector Terminal 2  
&  
K57 Control Unit - Multec  
Wiring Harness Connector Terminal A11  

 

 
 
 
 

E04  

•  If the nominal value is reached during one of the measurements, the component/control unit that has been disconnected immediately before that measurement is defective.  

 

 
 
 
 

E05  

•  If the nominal value is not reached with any of the measurements, this indicates that one of the following faults is present:  
Short circuit to ground/interruption of circuit between:  
Y15 Valve - Secondary Air Injection  
Wiring Harness Connector Terminal 1  
&  
K58 Relay - Pump, Fuel  
Socket Terminal 8
