Notes on Trouble-shooting:

Nominal Value:

Cause of fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

 

·   Ignition ON

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage:

     from:       battery +, Ter. 30

     to:           battery - , Ter. 31

 

higher than 11 V

 

·   Battery discharged

·   Battery short circuit in cell

·   Corroded contacts

 

·   Start engine

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage:

     from:       battery +, Ter. 30

to:           ground

 

higher than 8 V and

starter running

·   Check starter circuit

·   Check M1 starter

·   Engine running at idle speed

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage:

     from:       battery +, Ter. 30

     to:           ground

 

higher than 13 V

·   Check G2 alternator or regulator

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Disconnect wiring harness plug from:
K57 engine control unit

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage:

     from:       K57 wiring harness plug for engine control unit Ter. A6

     to           ground

 

higher than 11 V

 

·   Short circuit to ground or circuit interruption

     from:       K57 wiring harness plug for engine control unit Ter. A6

     to:           battery +, Ter. 30

·   Fault in circuit:

     K58 fuel pump relay

 

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage:

     from:       K57 wiring harness plug for engine control unit Ter. F3, E16

     to:           ground

lower than 0.1 V

·   Short circuit to voltage

     from:       K57 wiring harness plug for engine control unit Ter. F3, E16

     to:           S1 ignition lock Ter.15

·   S1 ignition lock defective

 

·   Ignition ON

     Using multimeter, measure voltage:

     from:       K57 wiring harness plug for engine control unit Ter. F3, E16

     to:           ground

 

higher than 11 V

 

·   Short circuit to ground or circuit interruption

     from:       K57 wiring harness plug for engine control unit Ter. F3, E16

     to:           S1 ignition lock Ter.15

·   S1 ignition lock defective

·   Fault in circuit:

     K58 fuel pump relay or L2 direct ignition module or P47 camshaft sensor

 

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage:

     from:       K57 wiring harness plug for engine control unit Ter. A6, F3, E16

     to:           K57 wiring harness plug for engine control unit B1, E7, F7, E9, F16

higher than 11 V

·   Circuit interruption

     from:       K57 wiring harness plug for engine control unit B1, E7, F7, E9, F16

     to:           battery - , Ter. 31

 

 

If nominal values are attained

·   K57 engine control unit defective
