Table 4, Engine Does Not Start

Table 4 lists the checks required when the TECH 1 receives data from the control unit, no trouble codes are stored but the engine does not start.

Check the following items:

·   Does the starter turn (TECH 1 Data List no. 01 BATTERY VOLTAGE), is there fuel in the tank?

·   Engage fourth gear, push vehicle and determined whether engine is mechanically blocked (see Service Instructions).

·   Is the anti- theft warning system / immobiliser disarmed?

·   Check primary voltage of ignition system. Ignition ON, TECH 1 Data List no. 14 SPARK ADVANCE PART 1

·   Inspect spark plugs, ignition cables, spark plug connectors and plug connections

·   Fuel pump relay does not engage. Proceed with Data List "F0" test step 12, or TECH 1 MODE "F5" Actuator Test FUEL PUMP REL.

·   Check fuel pressure in feed and return lines. Feed pressure: approx. 3.0 bar; return pressure: approx. 0.3 to 1.5 bar. If these values are not attained, the feed/return line is blocked or kinked, or the fuel pressure regulator is defective.

·   Leaky intake manifold of throttle valve injection housing

·   Catalytic converter damaged or exhaust system blocked

·   Check compression.       Note:     Disconnect wiring harness plug from direct ignition system to avoid voltage peaks thatcould destroy the control unit.
