Engine running at idle speed

Engine throttle valve CLOSED (accelerator pedal in idle position)

Vehicle stationary

 

Press key F8 in the system main menu, select the desired test using the arrow keys and confirm with YES. Follow the instructions in the TECH 1 display.

 

Note:

Using the injector cutoff control test, an indirect statement about the mechanical condition of a cylinder (compression) can be made. If the fuel injection of one cylinder is switched off completely, the engine has to move the piston against the compression force as well. Torque and output are reduced and the engine speed sinks.

The engine speed should decrease by the same amount for each cylinder that is switched off. I.e. the compression and friction work performed by each consecutively switched-off cylinder should be approximately the same.

 

 

The control unit maintains the stochiometric ratio of 14.6 kg air to 1 kg fuel so that the electronic engine management does not immediately counteract the cutoff of an injector by increasing the injection period of the remaining injectors and opening the idle speed adjusTer.

If the fuel/ air ratio l = 1 is not yet attained, the test cannot be started.

Select cylinders consecutively by pressing key "arrow up".

·   Fuel injector for 1st cylinder                   F0:DATA LIST no. 52:

·   Fuel injector for 2nd cylinder                  F0:DATA LIST no. 52:

·   Fuel injector for 3rd cylinder                   F0:DATA LIST no. 52:

·   Fuel injector for 4th cylinder                   F0:DATA LIST no. 52:

 

1st  INJECTOR

2nd  INJECTOR

3rd  INJECTOR

4th  INJECTOR

 

By pressing the key "arrow down", the fuel injection can be switched off for 3 s each.

 

Engine speed must sink by approx. the same amount each time

 

Note:

During the control test, "F9" flashes in the TECH 1 display. The snapshot mode is switched on by pressing function key "F9". The current data during cylinder cutoff is recorded for later evaluation.
