·   Ignition ON

Disconnect plugs from intake manifold pressure sensor P 23, from throttle valve potentiometer P 34, from coolant temperature sensor P 30 and from exhaust gas recirculation valve Y 18.

·   Ignition OFF

·   Measure voltage:

from:   wiring harness plug P 23 Ter. B

to:        ground

 

less than 0.1 V

·   Short circuit in wiring harness

from:   intake manifold pressure sensor P 23 Ter. C (+ 5 volts)

 

to:        intake manifold pressure sensor P 23 Ter. B (input)

 

·   Ignition OFF.

·   Bridge intake manifold pressure sensor plug P 23:

from:   wiring harness plug Ter. C

to:        wiring harness plug Ter. B

·   Ignition ON

4.5 to 5.5 V

·   Short circuit in wiring harness

from:   intake manifold pressure sensor P 23 Ter. A (ground)

to:        intake manifold pressure sensor P 23 Ter. B (input)

 

·   Short circuit in wiring harness

from:   intake manifold pressure sensor P 23 Ter. A

to:        intake manifold pressure sensor P 23 Ter. C (+ 5 V)

·   Lead interruption

from:   control unit K 57 Ter. A 7 (input)

to:        intake manifold pressure sensor P 23 Ter. B

·   Lead interruption

from:   control unit K 57 Ter. B 8 (+ 5 volts)

to:        intake manifold pressure sensor P 23 Ter. C.

·   Control unit defective.

 

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Connect throttle valve potentiometer 4.9 to 5.1 Vplug P 34

·   Ignition ON

 

 

·   Fault in circuit, throttle valve potentiometer P 34

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Connect coolant temperature sensor plug P 30

·   Ignition ON

 

4.9 to 5.1 V

·   Fault in circuit, coolant temperature sensor P 30

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Connect exhaust gas recirculation valve plug Y 18

·   Ignition ON

 

4.9 to 5.1 V

·   Fault in circuit, exhaust gas recirculation valve Y 18

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance:

from:   control unit K 57 Ter. A 1 1

to:        intake manifold pressure sensor plug P 23 Ter. A

 

 

less than 2 W

·   Lead interruption

from:   control unit K 57 Ter. A 11

to:        intake manifold pressure sensor plug P 23 Ter. A

 

 

 

·   Reconnect plug P 23.

Connect Vacuum Pump MKM - 667 to vacuum connection of P 23.

·   Ignition OFF

·   Ignition ON

  Voltage display Voltage display

        0 bar                  4.9 to 5.1 V

      0.2 bar                3.4 to 3.9 V

      0.4 bar                2.3 to 2.8 V

      0.6 bar                1.2 to 1.7 V

 

·   Vacuum hose leaky or blocked

·   Intake manifold pressure sensor defective

·   Control unit defective
