Con-rod Bearing, Check (Bearing Play - with Plastigage)
 Remove, Disconnect Remove bearing shell with bearing cap.
 Measure Measure with Plastigage (malleable plastic threads). Plastigage is available for various tolerance ranges. Type: PG1, colour: green. Cut threads to length of bearing width and lay axially between con-rod bearing journals and bearing shell.
 Torque - Angle Method Con-rod bearing cap to con-rod:

- 25 Nm / 18 lbf. ft. 1) |

Bolt, thread length 40 mm/1.6 in |
- 25 Nm / 18 lbf. ft. + 30 ° 1) |
 Important! Degrease crankshaft journal and lubricate bearing shell slightly so that the thread does not tear when the bearing cap is removed. Do not turn crankshaft. |

Measure Remove bearing cap. Measure width of flattened plastic thread with scale. Permissible tolerance - see Technical Data. Do not confuse millimetre and imperial units on scale.
 Clean Clean con-rod bearing journals and bearing shells. |

 Install, Connect Coat bearing shell halves with engine oil, insert in con-rod bearing cap.
Torque - Angle Method Con-rod bearing cap to con-rod:
