Crankshaft, Check (Bearing Play using External and Internal Micrometer) measurer) > < Crankshaft, Remove and Install

 

Crankshaft, Check (Bearing Play - with Plastigage)  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove crankshaft bearing cap with crankshaft bearing shell.  

Object Number: 616197  Size: DEFAULT  Measure   

Measure with Plastigage (malleable plastic threads). Plastigage is available for various tolerance ranges. Type: PG1, colour: green.  

Cut thread to length of bearing width and insert axially between crankshaft journal and bearing shell (see illus.).  

Attach crankshaft bearing cap to cylinder block - 50 Nm / 37 lbf. ft. + 45 ° + 15 °  

Object Number: 616201  Size: DEFAULT  Important!   

To prevent thread from tearing when the crankshaft bearing cap is removed, degrease crankshaft journal and lubricate bearing shell slightly. Do not turn crankshaft.

Object Number: 616197  Size: DEFAULT  Measure   

Remove crankshaft bearing cap. Measure width of flattened plastic thread with scale (arrow). Permissible tolerance - see Technical Data. Do not confuse millimetre and imperial units on scale.  

Object Number: 616195  Size: DEFAULT  Clean   

Clean crankshaft bearing journals and bearing shells.  

Object Number: 2377843  Size: DEFAULT

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Install crankshaft bearing shell and crankshaft bearing cap with new bolts.  

Object Number: 616200  Size: DEFAULT  Torque - Angle Method   

Crankshaft bearing cap to cylinder block - 50 Nm / 37 lbf. ft. + 45 ° + 15 ° 1)  

Object Number: 2379183  Size: DEFAULT

1)  Use new bolts.
