Cause of fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Disconnect from base:

     K12 secondary air injection relay

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage

     from:       K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 8

     to:           ground

 

higher than 11 V

·   F49 fuse defective

·   Short circuit to ground or circuit interruption

     from:       K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 8

     to:           battery +, Ter. 30

·   Disconnect from base:

     K58 fuel pump relay

·   Bridge wiring harness plug

     from:       K58 base of fuel pump relay Ter. 2

     to:           K58 base of fuel pump relay Ter. 8

·   Ignition ON

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage

     from:       K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 4

     to:           ground

 

higher than 11 V

·   Check according to data list no. 12 FUEL PUMP RELAY  

 

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage

     from:       K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 6

     to:           ground

lower than 0.1 V

·   Short circuit to voltage

     from:       K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 6

     to:           K57 wiring harness plug for engine control unit Ter. A10

·   K57 engine control unit defective

 

·   Using multimeter, measure voltage

     from:       K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 2 and Ter. 5

     to:           ground

 

lower than 0.1 V

 

·   Short circuit to voltage

     from:       K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 2 and Ter. 5

     to:           M27 secondary air injection pump

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Using multimeter, measure resistance:

     from:       K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 5

     to:           ground

 

lower than 2 W

·   Circuit interruption

     from:       K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 5

     to:           ground

·   Connect test lamp:

     from:       K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 4

     to:           K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 6

·   Ignition ON

·   Using TECH 1, carry out:

     5:ACTUATOR TEST

  SEC. AIR P.REL

 

 

Test lamp ON

 

 

 

·   Short circuit to ground or circuit interruption

     from:       K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 6

     to:           K57 wiring harness plug for engine control unit Ter. A10

·   K57 engine control unit defective

·   Ignition OFF

·   Ignition ON

 

Test lamp OFF

 

·   Bridge wiring harness plug

     from:       K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 8

     to:           K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 2

M27 secondary air pump ON

·   Short circuit to ground or circuit interruption

     from:       K12 base of secondary air injection relay Ter. 2

     to:           M27 secondary air pump

·   Circuit interruption

     from:       M27 secondary air pump

     to:           ground

·   M27 secondary air pump defective

 

Note:

If M27 secondary air pump does not operate, the thermal protection switch inside the secondary air pump may have interrupted the circuit.

 

 

If nominal values are attained

·   K12 secondary air injection relay defective
