Tie rod end, Replace > < Revision of time allowances, including operation descriptions, effective as of 01.06.1998

 

Tie Rod, Replace  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove fastening nut from tie-rod end on steering knuckle.  

Press out tie-rod end with KM-507-C (1).  

Detach both retaining bands from bellows.  

Unscrew tie rod with axial joint (arrow) from steering rack (illus. II + III).  

Remove tie-rod end from tie rod and detach bellows.  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Bolt tie rod (arrow) with axial joint to steering rack - tightening torque 70 Nm / 52 lbf. ft. Fit bellows and secure to steering gear and tie rod with new retaining straps and KM-J-22610. Attach tie-rod end to tie rod - tightening torque 50 Nm / 37 lbf. ft. Attach tie-rod end to steering knuckle - tightening torque 35 Nm / 26 lbf. ft.  

Object Number: 616198  Size: DEFAULT  Adjust   

Adjust toe-in - see operation "Chassis Alignment" in group "E".
