1. |
Section I shows the condition on delivery for service:
Note: The diagram shows
the positions of the side airbag sensor in the vehicle. The
arrangement of the side airbag sensor in models F08 and F68 is at
the inside of the B-column.

2. |
Positioning cap (1) of the side airbag sensor conceals the
upper bolting point.
|
3. |
Section II shows the installed position – front and rear
– of the side airbag sensor in the vehicle
|
4. |
Both bolting points (2) are accessible when the side airbag
sensor is installed
|
|
5. |
Disconnect battery
Note: Wait for 1 minute
until capacitor has discharged
|
6. |
Remove inner panelling, front of rear quarter panel (model F
08)
|
7. |
Remove inner panelling of lower B-pillar, model F 68
|
8. |
Remove side airbag sensor
• |
Release and disconnect wiring harness plug (2)
|
• |
Unscrew 2x bolt (arrows)
|
• |
Push side airbag sensor (1) upwards
|
• |
Carefully unclip lugs (3) of the positioning cap (4) from
behind in the area of the inner reinforcement of the B-pillar
– |
Remove side airbag sensor
|

|
|
Install
Important: Incorrect allocation
of the side airbag sensors impairs the function of the airbag
system and can lead to malfunctions. Damaged sensors (1) must be
replaced! Ensure that the wiring harness is fastened correctly
(2)!

Position airbag sensor
• |
Clip side airbag sensor (1) with positioning cap (2) into inner
reinforcement of the B-pillar.
Note: Positioning cap
(2) must engage audible.

Install side airbag sensor
• |
Push side airbag sensor downwards (arrow) and fasten
– |
Connect and latch wiring harness plug (3)
|

|
15. |
Install inner panelling, front of rear quarter panel (model F
08)
|
16. |
Install inner panelling, lower B-pillar, model F 68
|
18. |
Program volatile memories
Note: If the airbag
system is functioning correctly, the airbag warning lamp must go
off permanently approx. 4 seconds after ignition "ON".
