Inner Panelling – Upper B-Pillar, Remove and Install (Model F 68)

  Remove

1.   Prise off cover (1)
Note:   In vehicles with curtain airbag, the inner panelling for the upper B-pillar is also fitted with a clip. This clip is marked Airbag. all the fastenings of the upper inner B-pillar (bolts, clips) must be replaced with original parts from Aftersales if damaged (see illustration I).
2.   Unclip inner panelling, upper B-pillar (2)
3.   Remove sill storage compartment LUREF_1.gif
4.   Remove attachment point (3) for seat belt on front seat
•   Unscrew and remove bolt (arrow)
5.   Unthread seat belt (4) out of B-pillar inner panelling
6.   Remove B-pillar inner panelling

  Install

7.   Guide seat belt through inner panelling of B-pillar
8.   Illustration shows routing of belt strap in upper B-pillar inner panelling

9.   Fit attachment point of front seat belt to front seat
Note:   Insert bolt for seat belt into front seat with bolt locking compound
•   Tighten bolt 20 Nm
10.   Install sill storage compartment LUREF_1.gif
11.   Clip in upper B-pillar inner panelling
12.   Fasten cover
13.   Check function of seat belt height adjuster and seat belt reel retractor.
Note:   To ensure the function of the front seat belt, the routing of the belt strap in the B-pillar inner panelling must be correct.
