Electronic Control Unit > < Replacing rear wheel sensor, models F 08, F 08 & W5L, F 68 (vehicles with disk brakes)

Replace pulse emitter on wheel hub (vehicle with disc brakes)

  Remove

1.   Release parking brake
2.   Detach appropriate rear wheel
•   Unscrew 4 x screws
Note:   Mark position in relation to centre of wheel.
3.   Detach brake calliper retaining frame with calliper
•   Unscrew 2 x screws (1)
•   Remove brake calliper complete with linings and retaining frame, and suspend at suitable point
Note:   If the brake calliper cannot be detached, remove the brake linings.
•   see operation "Brake Linings - Rear Wheel Brake, Remove and Install" in group "H"
4.   Detach brake disc
•   Unscrew screw (2)
5.   Detach dust cap (3)
Note:   Dust cap cannot be removed without damage

6.   Remove wheel hub fixing bolt
•   Remove bolt (1)
7.   Remove wheel hub (2) from wheel journal
8.   Remove pulse emitter (3) from wheel hub
•   Using KM-161-B (4), remove hook KM-161-3 (5) and pressure pad KM-161-4 (6) from wheel hub.

9.   Clean contact surfaces.

  Install

10.   Fit new pulse emitter to wheel hub.
•   Using KM-6175 (1) below a hydraulic press, press down to contact on the wheel hub.

11.   Clean wheel journal and thread on journal
12.   Lightly coat wheel journal and bearing inner ring with oil
13.   Fit wheel hub (1) to wheel journal
•   Push wheel hub onto journal
•   Fit new nut (2) on wheel spindle ( 175 Nm )
•   Fit new dust cap on wheel hub

14.   Attach brake disc
•   Tighten bolt (1) ( 7 Nm )
15.   Attach brake calliper
•   Place brake calliper with linings and retaining frame radially over the brake disc
•   Coat 2x bolts (2) with locking compound and tighten ( 100 Nm )
Note:   If the brake linings were removed: install brake linings
•   see operation "Brake Linings - Rear Wheel Brake, Remove and Install" in group "H"

16.   Attach rear wheel
•   Tighten 4x bolts ( 110 Nm )
Note:   Observe installation position.
