Camshaft housing - Z 13 DT DOHC diesel engine

The camshaft housing of the Z 13 DT engine is made of aluminium and houses two camshafts.

The camshafts not only control the timing of the valves but also drive the high-pressure pump and the vacuum pump which is flange-mounted to the camshaft housing on the transmission side.

The camshaft housing is attached to the cylinder head with 18 fastening bolts.

Tightening sequence for the camshaft housing on the Z 13 DT engine

•  Service:
To ensure operational reliability, the camshaft housing must be tightening in the following sequence when installing it.

Stage I Tightening fastening bolts in sequence (1-18). M7 tightening torque - 12 Nm . M8 tightening torque - 15 Nm Stage II Tighten fastening bolts in sequence (1-18). M7 tightening torque - 18 Nm . M8 tightening torque - 25 Nm .
