Cylinder head - Z 13 DT DOHC diesel engine

The cylinder head is made of aluminium and houses four valves per cylinder, the stems of which are inclined 3 degrees to the outside to make space for the injectors in the cylinder axis.

It is a supreme technical achievement that the following six components are accommodated in each cylinder in a bore diameter of just 69.6 mm:

• 2 exhaust valves
• 2 inlet valves
• 1 injector
• 1 shielded glow plug

For this reason a separate camshaft housing accommodating two camshafts is located on the cylinder head for valve timing.
