Pressure sensor - Z 13 DT DOHC diesel engine The pressure sensor of the Z 13 DT engine is bolted to the pressure accumulator on the timing side.
The pressure sensor measures the current pressure in the pressure accumulator and sends a voltage signal to the engine control unit. The fuel flows through a hole to the pressure sensor, whose sensor diaphragm seals off the end of the hole. The pressurised fuel is led to the diaphragm via a blind hole. On this diaphragm is the sensor element (semiconductor element) which is used to convert the pressure into an electrical signal. The generated signal is conveyed via connecting cables to an evaluation circuit which sends the boosted measurement signal to the engine control unit. Cross sectional diagram of the pressure sensor
