Replace front crankshaft sealing ring (Y 17 DTL, with air conditioning, LHD) > < Oil Temperature, Measure (Y 17 DT, Y 17 DTL)

J 317700 Oil Dipstick Guide Tube, Replace (Y 17 DT, with AC, LHD)

1. Open bonnet

Caution!

On vehicles from model year 04 with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected. It must be recalibrated.

2. Disconnect battery

  • Detach ground cable

3. Remove air cleaner housing (1)

  • Remove wiring harness plug for hot film mass air flow meter (3)
    • Release in direction of arrow
  • Remove air intake hose (4)
    • Loosen clamp (5)
  • Remove bolt (2)

4. Remove charge air hose

  • From turbocharger, centre charge air pipe
    • Release 2 clamps

5. Raise vehicle

6. Detach ribbed V-belt cover

  • Remove 3 bolts (1)
  • Remove clip (arrow).

7. Detach ribbed V-belt

  • Tension ribbed V-belt tensioner in direction of arrow
  • With KM-913-A
  • Note! Mark running direction

8. Remove oil dipstick guide tube

  • From upper part of oil pan
  • Remove 2 lower bolts (arrows)

9. Lower vehicle

10. Remove compressor

  • Disconnect wiring harness plug
  • Remove 3 bolts
    • Note! Note dissimilar bolt lengths
  • Hang compressor aside

11. Remove oil dipstick guide tube

  • Place collecting basin underneath.
  • Remove upper bolt (1)

12. Turn in oil dipstick guide tube

  • Replace seal ring
  • Screw in upper bolt

13. Install compressor

  • Tighten bolts (22 Nm / 16.2 lbf. ft)
  • Connect wiring harness plug.

14. Raise vehicle

15. Fasten oil dipstick guide tube

  • Tighten lower bolts (9.8 Nm / 7.2 lbf. ft.)

16. Install ribbed V-belt

  • Note! Observe running direction and installation position
  • Release ribbed V-belt tensioner
    • With KM-913-A

17. Attach ribbed V-belt cover

  • Tighten bolts
  • Install clip

18. Lower vehicle

19. Fasten oil dipstick guide tube

  • Tighten upper bolt (9.8 Nm / 7.2 lbf. ft.)

20. Attach charge air hose

  • To turbocharger, centre charge air pipe

21. Install air cleaner housing

  • Bolt in bolt
  • Install air intake hose.
    • Fasten clamp (3.5 Nm / 2.6 lbf. ft.)
  • Connect wiring harness plug to hot film mass air flow meter

22. Check and correct engine oil level

  • Observe specified engine oil quantity

23. Connect battery

24. Calibrate steering angle sensor

  • Switch on ignition

Note:   Rotate the steering wheel one time from its right-hand to its left-hand stop.

25. Program volatile memories

26. Close bonnet
