J307000 Cylinder Head Cover, Remove and Install (Z
14 XE, Z 16 YNG with AC, LHD)

1. Open bonnet
Important: On
vehicles as of model year 04 with ESP - the steering angle sensor
loses its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected.
It must be recalibrated.
2. Disconnect battery
3. Remove engine cover.
- Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
- Remove 2 bolts
- Screw on oil filler pipe cap
4. Remove ignition module
- Disconnect wiring harness plug
- Remove 4 bolts
- Remove using KM-6009 (1)
- Caution: Do not tilt
5. Detach preheater hoses for throttle valve module (2)
- Place collecting basin underneath.
- From thermostat housing
6. Disconnect wiring harness plug for coolant temperature sensor
(3)
- Unclip from rear toothed belt cover

7. Remove cylinder head cover
- Detach engine vent hose
- Remove 10 bolts
- Remove seal
8. Clean sealing surfaces
- Cylinder head, cylinder head cover
|
|
|
9. Install cylinder head cover
- Replace gasket
- Apply sealant to sealing surfaces(1)
- Caution: Complete assembly operations within 10 minutes
- Tighten bolts (8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.)
- Attach engine vent hoses
- Connect cable harness plug of oxygen sensor, mixture
regulation, heated

10. Attach preheater hose for throttle valve module
- Connect wiring harness plug for coolant temperature sensor
- Clip in cable
11. Install ignition module
- Remove KM-6009
- Tighten bolts (8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.)
- Connect wiring harness plug.
12. Install engine cover
- Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
- Insert retaining lugs
- Tighten bolts (8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.)
- Screw on oil filler pipe cap
- Note: Note cable routing
13. Connect battery
14. Calibrate steering angle sensor
Note: Rotate the
steering wheel one time from its right-hand to its left-hand
stop.
15. Check engine oil level
- Observe specified engine oil quantity
16. Top up coolant
- Note: Top up and bleed cooling system – see operation
"Cooling System, Top Up and Bleed".
- Observe specified coolant quantity
17. Program volatile memories
18. Close bonnet
