Injector programming in common rail engines

Each injector is marked with an individual code (QR code), The QR code contains correction data for compensating for various manufacturing tolerances.

When an injector is replaced the new injector must be taught into the engine control unit using TECH2. This procedure allows the engine control unit to record the necessary correction parameters, allowing the injected quantity of fuel to be accurately metered.

The QR codes of the existing injectors also have to be entered into the new engine control unit when the engine control unit is replaced.

This information can be temporarily stored in the TECH2 and copied to the new engine control unit after replacement has taken place.

Injector programming is not necessary for all common rail engines.

The following table is intended to show the engines and models for which injector programming is necessary.
