| Complaint: |
Rattling noise from timing chain after cold
start and even with hot (cooling temperature > 90°C) engine
at idle and higher RPM. |
| Cause: |
Some chain links may scuff into surface of
chain pin causing mentioned complaint. |
| Production: |
Only Engines within the following engine
range are potentionally affected: Z10/14XEP: as of 19BW6023
(10.07.2003), Z12XE: as of 19CA7292 (02.09.2003). An improved
timing chain has be introduced in production as of the following
engine number: 19DF9252 (17.05.2004). |
