Oxygen Sensor > < J794400 replace crankshaft sensor (Z 14 XE, Z 16 YNG with AC, RHD)

J795100 replace knock sensor (Z 14 XE, Z 16 YNG with AC, RHD)

1. Open bonnet

Important:   On vehicles as of model year 04 with ESP - the steering angle sensor loses its basic adjustment each time the battery is disconnected. It must be recalibrated.

2. Disconnect battery

3. Remove engine cover (3)

  • Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
  • Remove 2 bolts
  • Screw on oil filler pipe cap

4. Remove intake pipe

  • Disconnect wiring harness plug from intake air temperature sensor (1)
  • Detach engine vent hose (2)

5. Disconnect wiring harness plug for knock sensor (1).

  • Push aside and unlock
  • Position wiring harness plug between fuel distributor pipe and wiring trough

6. Raise vehicle

7. Remove knock sensor (2)

  • Remove bolt
  • Carefully pull cable downwards

8. Clean contact surface

9. Install knock sensor

  • Route cable on top
  • Caution: Recommended tightening torque must always be observed.
    • Tighten bolt (20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft.)

10. Lower vehicle

11. Install knock sensor wiring harness plug

  • Route cable

12. Install intake pipe

  • Attach engine vent hose
  • Connect intake air temperature sensor wiring harness plug

13. Install engine cover.

  • Unscrew oil filler pipe cap
  • Tighten bolts (8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.)
  • Screw on oil filler pipe cap

14. Connect battery

15. Calibrate steering angle sensor

  • Switch on ignition

Note:   Rotate the steering wheel one time from its right-hand to its left-hand stop.

16. Program volatile memories

17. Close bonnet
