Drive Shaft, Replace (F17 new) > < Drive Shaft and/or Ball Bearing, Replace (F 17)

Remove and install bearing in transmission housing (F17)

Note:   Transmission remains installed.

  Remove

Object Number: 2414078  Size: DEFAULT

1.   Remove shift mechanism cover (1) LUREF_1.gif
2.   Remove reversing lamp switch (2)
3.   Remove end shield cover (3)
4.   Remove end shield (4) from transmission LUREF_1.gif

5.   Remove differential

6.   Pull needle bearing (3) for bearing of drive shaft out of transmission with KM-556-A (1) and MKM-599 (2)
7.   Pull roller bearing (4) for bearing of main shaft out of transmission with KM-556-A (6) and KM-556-2 (5)

  Install

Object Number: 2414095  Size: DEFAULT

Important:   Do not drive in roller bearing flush, otherwise the bearing will be damaged.
8.   Drive in new roller bearing (3) for main shaft bearing into transmission as far as it will go using KM-454-3 (5) in combination with KM-454-4 (4)
9.   Drive in new needle bearing (2) for bearing main shaft flush using KM-454-2 (6) in combination with KM-454-4 (1)
Note:   Needle bearing side with writing points to transmission.
10.   Install differential

11.   Install end shield (1) in transmission LUREF_1.gif
12.   Install end shield cover (2)
13.   Install reversing lamp switch (4) with new seal ring
•   Tighten switch 20 Nm
14.   Install gearshift cover (3)
15.   Check transmission fluid level LUREF_1.gif
