Steering Intermediate Shaft, Remove and Install > < Straight-ahead Position, Check/Adjust

Steering Gear boot, Remove and Install

  Remove

1.   Remove front wheel.
•   If fitted: Remove engine compartment cover
2.   Remove tie rod end
3.   Release clamp (2) and retaining band (3).
4.   Pull boot (1) from tie rod.

  Install

5.   Pull bellows over tie rod and slide onto steering gear
Note:   Ensure that the boot is seated in the grooves of the tie rod (2) and the steering gear (1)
6.   Attach boot with new retaining band (4) and new clamp (3).

7.   Install tie rod end
8.   If fitted: Install lower engine compartment cover.
9.   Attach front wheel – tightening torque 10 Nm
10.   Check toe-in, adjust if necessary, see brochure "Chassis Alignment Values" for the respective model year.
