Replace airbag contact unit.
Remove

Observe waiting time for airbag deactivation, 1 min.

Remove airbag, driver's side
• |
Turn steering wheel through 90°degrees (I)
|
• |
Using a screwdriver, press the retaining wire in the service
opening (II) in the direction of the steering column (III) and
remove the airbag module.
Note: Ensure that the
retaining wire is not bent.

• |
Release and disconnect 3x wiring harness plug
|
|
|

Separate wiring harness plug (1) for horn/infotainment
|
5. |
Detach steering wheel from steering column
Note: Ensure that the
wheels are in the straight-ahead position

Remove steering wheel from steering spindle
|
|
|
|
6. |
Detach steering column panelling
• |
Detach upper panelling (1)
– |
Unscrew 2x bolt (arrows)
|
|
• |
Remove lower panelling (3)
– |
Detach ignition lock rosette (2)
|
|
|
|
|
7. |
Remove CS module
• |
Unscrew 3x bolt (arrows)
|
• |
Release and disconnect wiring harness plug
|
|
|
|
Install

Install CS module
• |
Connect wiring harness plug
|
• |
Clip in wiring harness clamp
|
|
9. |
Fit signal switch panelling
|
10. |
Attach steering wheel to steering spindle
• |
Place steering wheel on steering column
Note: Ensure that the
marks on the steering wheel and steering column align.
|
|
11. |
Tighten bolt 30 Nm
Note: Clean thread and
fit new bolt with locking compound.
|
12. |
Connect wiring harness plug for horn/infotainment
|
13. |
Install airbag, driver's side

Connect and latch wiring harness plug
|
|
14. |
Perform readiness check
|

Program volatile memories
