Crankshaft Seal Ring Front, Replace > < Check crankshaft bearing clearance (with plastigage)

Corsa D

Check the bearing clearance of the crankshaft (use micrometer and internal measuring device)

Note:   Crankshaft removed

  Install

Important:   Measurement without bearing shells.
1.   Attach cylinder head base plate without crankshaft bearing shells
Note:   Note different bolt lengths!
Important:   Note correct tightening sequence!
•   (I) Tighten 10x new bolt M10 20 Nm + 80°
Note:   When undertaking the measurement it is not necessary to replace the bolts.
•   (II) Tighten 10x bolt M8 30 Nm

  Measure

2.   The average crankshaft bearing diameter is calculated using the measurements from points I, II and III (as measured with an internal measuring device).
3.   Formula for calculating the average crankshaft bearing diameter:

4.   The average crankshaft bearing diameter is 54.712 mm .

5.   The crankshaft bearing journal diameter is calculated using the measurements from points I and II (as measured with a micrometer gauge).
6.   Formula for calculating the average crankshaft bearing journal diameter:

8.   Crankshaft bearing clearance is calculated using crankshaft bearing bore diameter, crankshaft bearing journal diameter and crankshaft bearing shell thickness.
Note:   Different classes of bearing shells can be used for a crankshaft bearing to reduce bearing clearance. The stronger of the two bearing shells must be inserted in the cylinder block base plate.

9.   Permissible crankshaft bearing clearance: 0.028 - 0.048 mm

  Remove

10.   Detach cylinder block base plate
Note:   Note different bolt lengths!
•   Unscrew 20x bolts
