Complaint: |
Customer complain about a whistling noise
from engine. Sometimes DTC P0171 is set in ECU. |
Cause: |
Cracked air pressure membrane inside the
cylinder head cover causes sucking of excess air. |
Production: |
Improved valve covers has been introduced as
of 21.02.2011 (engine 19WN7447). |
Remedy:
In case of customer complaint, check during idle if the engine
sucks air in from the air pressure membrane.
This could be visually confirmed by positioning a smoke source
near the membrane housing opening (pic. I, arrow ), or with a change
in the engine noise after covering the opening.
If turbo engines will leak oil from the pressure regulation
valve, see also TSB 2774.
