Operating Unit, Replace
Remove
Disconnect battery ground cable.
Remove glass panel - see operation "Glass Panel,
Replace".
On Models 93, 94, 98, 99, remove luggage compartment lid.
On Models 91, 92, 96, 97, remove rear windscreen.
Partly trim door frame seals.
Remove seat belt mountings from C pillars.

Remove crank handle and handle recess.
Remove retaining handle.
Loosen headlining from cementing places.
Detach headlining bow sideways from roof clip.
Trim headlining from rear up to A pillar (looking in
direction of travel).

Pull off water drain hoses from 4 pipe connections of
operating unit.
Illustration shows layout of the hoses without operating
unit for clearer representation.
Note:
All drain hoses are attached to the pipe connections without
cement.

Unscrew operating unit from front support.
Unscrew rear supports from roof frame.
Unscrew operating unit from roof frame (2 mechanics).

Remove operating unit from vehicle interior.
In Models 93, 94, 98, 99, through open tailgate.
In Models 91, 92, 96, 97, through rear screen opening.
Unscrew rear supports from operating unit.

Install
Check basic adjustment of operating unit - see operation
"Cranking Mechanism, Adjust".
Unbolt rear supports from actuation unit.
Observe bolt lengths (see Bolting Table).
Lift operating unit into vehicle interior and insert fixing
pins front and centre in receptacles in roof frame (2 mechanics required).
Bolt operating unit to roof frame.
Bolt rear supports to roof frame.

1 Operating unit to rear supports:
4 pieces M5 x 15
2 Rear support to roof frame:
4 pieces M5 x 15
3 Operating unit to roof frame:
12 pieces M5 x 10
4 Operating unit to front support:
2 pieces M5 x 10
5 Front support to roof frame:
2 pieces M5 x 10

Push 4 water drain hoses on to pipe connections of operating
unit. Do not cement.
Fasten headlining.
Cement headlining to rear and sides of cover cut-out on roof
frame using plastic cement.
X Cementing place
1 Roof bow (wire)
Install attaching parts.
Connect battery ground cable.
Install glass panel - see operation "Glass Panel,
Replace".
