Brake System on Vehicles with Right Hand Drive

The following operations described are those which differ from those for vehicles with Left Hand Drive.

Brake Servo, Replace

Remove

Loosen union nut for vacuum tube connection to intake manifold.

Pull vacuum tube from brake servo.

Detach windscreen washer fluid reservoir.

Pull off cable of brake fluid level warning indicator.

Unscrew tandem master cylinder from brake servo, remove and push slightly forwards.

Note:

The brake lines need not be unscrewed.

Unscrew all hex nuts securing the brake servo to the support bracket using ring spanner.

On vehicles up to MY '90

Remove fastening bolts for storage compartment.

Dismantle centre console and storage compartment.

On vehicles as of MY '91

Remove storage compartment under glove compartment.

On all vehicles

Remove retainer for thrust rod.

Remove pins from thrust rod and torsion shaft.

Remove brake servo from support bracket

Note:

There is sealing compound between brake servo and support bracket.

Insert piston rod in torsion shaft.

Mount pins and secure with retainer.

On vehicles up to MY '90

Mount centre console and storage compartment.

On vehicles as of MY '91

Install storage compartment.

Attach tandem master cylinder to stay bolts of the brake servo.

Screw on new self-locking hex nuts - 18 Nm/13 lbf. ft.

Tighten union nuts for vacuum tube connection on intake manifold.

Mount vacuum tube on brake servo.

Connect cable for brake fluid level warning indicator.

Mount windscreen washer fluid reservoir.
