Brake Servo, Remove and Install or Replace
Loosen union nut for vacuum tube mounting on connection of
suction tube.
Pull vaccuum tube from brake servo.
Detach container for window cleaning system.

Unbolt tandem master cylinder from brake servo and remove
and slightly push master cylinder forward.
Note:
Brake lines must not be screwed off.

Detach brake pedal return spring.
Remove retainer from push rod pin and remove pin.
|
|
Unscrew and remove hex nuts (arrows) from brake pedal
support.
|
|
Remove brake servo from dash panel.
Remove fork and lock nut from push rod.
Measure screw-in length of push rod so as to have a basic
adjustment when making the installation.

|
Screw lock nut and fork to previously measured dimension on
piston rod.
Thinly coat contact surface of brake servo on dash panel
with Sealing Compound 15 04 403 - 90 013 461.
Insert new brake servo into pedal support and screw on hex
nuts - tighten to 18 Nm/13.3 lbf. ft.

Mount and tighten tandem master cylinder on brake servo
18 Nm/13.3 lbf. ft.
Insert vacuum tube into brake servo and tighten union nut on
suction tube connection - 15 Nm/11.06 lbf. ft.
Mount fork, pin, retainer and return spring.

Then depress brake pedal 5 times (with engine not running)
and measure control distance of brake servo on the brake pedal plate.
Adjust pedal so that there is a path on the pedal plate of 6
to 9 mm/0.24 to 0.35 in.
If the control path does not correspond to the value,
the piston rod is to be turned accordingly.
Lock fork with hex nut.
