Brake Disc Cover Plate, Replace
Raise vehicle.
Mark corresponding wheel relative to the wheel hub and
remove front wheel.

With GMF brake caliper:
Knock brake lining retaining pins from inside outwards out
of brake caliper.
Remove brake linings.
Unscrew both hex bolts from retainer frame.
With FN brake caliper:
Unscrew retaining frame from steering knuckle and suspend
brake caliper.
Make sure that brake hose is not twisted.

Remove stop screw (arrow) for brake disc from wheel hub and
remove brake disc.

Remove fastening bolts for cover plate through wheel hub
bore.
|
|
Turn cover plate so that thin connecting web can be cut off
with plate shears, as shown in illustration.
Remove cover plate above the collar of wheel hub.

Install
Before installing the new cover plate, web should be cut off
with plate shears, as shown in illustration.
Deburr cut surfaces and coat with paint.

Mount cover plate with cut-out over collar of wheel spindle
and attach cover to steering knuckle.
|
|
Install brake disc on wheel hub and mount locking screw.
Ensure that dirt is absent between disc and hub and that
contact surfaces are smooth and free of burrs.
Mount retainer frame, torque - 95 Nm/70 lbf. ft.
Mount brake linings (illustration shows FN brake caliper).
With GMF brake caliper ensure that retaining pins are properly
seated.

Check torque of brake hose hollow bolt - 40 Nm/29.5
lbf. ft.
Lower vehicle and mount front wheels. Tighten wheel bolts to
110 N m/81 lbf. ft.
Actuate brake pedal before driving vehicle so that the piston
contacts the brake lining.
