Parking Brake Cable Compensation and/or Guide, Replace

On vehicles with parking brake compensation on rear axle body

Raise vehicle and measure thread length on threaded piece.

Unscrew hex nut from threaded piece.

Push parking brake compensation to the right and disconnect right parking brake cable.

Remove brake cable compensation.

Unscrew guide for brake cable compensation from rear axle and remove.

Position and bolt down new guide of brake cable compensation with short side - viewed from rear to front of vehicle - to the left on the rear axle body - 16 Nm/12 lbf. ft.

Use new self-locking nut.

Attach brake cable compensation yoke - with openings on the brackets to the front - to right brake cable and push compensation onto guide.

Push guide to the left and mount threaded piece of the short parking brake cable.

Screw new self-locking hex nut to previously measured dimension, check adjustment and correct if necessary.

Lower vehicle.

On Vehicles with Parking Brake Cable Compensation over the Rear Axle Body

Raise vehicle and measure length of thread at threaded part.

Pull off rubber buffer outwards from guide.

Unscrew hex nut on threaded piece.

Lay aside left parking brake cable.

Remove guide from right parking brake cable (arrow).

Remove hex nut.

Insert hex nut.

Attach new guide in right parking brake cable.

Bolt left parking brake cable with hex nut onto guide to previous measured dimension. Check adjustment and readjust if necessary.

Push rubber buffer on guide.

Lower vehicle.
