Con Rod Bearing|Specifications > < Technical Data - OHC DIESEL ENGINE - Crank Drive

 

 

Con-rod Bearing, Replace

 

Disconnect ground cable from battery.

 

Remove oil pan.

See operation "Oil Pan Gasket, Replace".

 

Set con-rod in BDC position.

 

Unbolt con-rod bearing cover and remove with bearing shell.

 

Press con-rod off of bearing journal and remove bearing shell.

 

 

Object Number: 2378116  Size: DEFAULT

 

 

The con-rods are marked with I, II or III according to base diameter.

 

Con-rod marking           - Bearing shell colour code

       I                              -             blue

       II                            -             black

       III                           -             brown

 

Clean con-rod bearing journal.

 

 

Object Number: 2378129  Size: DEFAULT

 

 

Check con-rod bearing clearance and con-rod lateral clearance.

See operation "Crankshaft, Replace".

 

 

Object Number: 2378128  Size: DEFAULT

 

 

Apply engine oil generously to new bearing shell halves and insert into con-rod and con-rod bearing cover.

 

Place con-rod on con-rod bearing journal and bolt on bearing cover.

Prescribed torque: 25 Nm/18 lbf. ft. + 45 to 60° Turn further with KM - 470 - B.

 

Use new bolts and nuts.

 

Install oil pan and front exhaust pipe.
