Cold Start Acceleration, Check and Adjust

Check idle speed adjustment (engine at operating temperature).

See corresponding operation.

Allow engine to cool.

Adjust gap between idle stop screw and adjustment lever.

Coolant temperature                   Gap

At - 20 °C/ - 4 °F                         1.7 ± 1

At + 20 °C/ + 68 °F                     0.8 ± 0.3

Adjust

Loosen lock nut (1).

Turn stop screw (2).

Record engine speed with photo -electric cell tachometer.

A 1 to 2 cm/0.4 to 0.8 in. wide piece of aluminium foil should be attached to crankshaft pulley.

Adjust idle speed.

Engine cold 950 to 1000 rpm

If necessary, turn stop screw (2) until idle speed

(cold) is attained.

After adjustment - lock stop screw (2) with nut (1).
