The test step "CONTROLLED RPM" is only active in TECH 1 mode "F7" submode "F0".

The test step "CONTROLLED RPM" can be used to test the behaviour of the engine at increased engine speeds. The engine speed can be changed in a range from 650 rpm to 1800 rpm with the arrow keys. Simultaneously, all other TECH 1 displays can be observed. TECH 1 is automatically inthe snapshot mode, so that, in an unusual situation, the storage operation can be immediately activated by pressing key "F9". TECH 1 adjusts the idle speed stepper motor in order to set the engine speed to the desired value. Therefore, a modification in the display "IDLE AIR CONTROL" is not a fault.

Trouble-shooting:                                 Nominal Value:                       Cause of Fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

· Select TECH 1 mode "F7"                                Engine speed increases                    · Carry out TECH 1 selection again

Then select TECH 1 mode "F0"                      to 1000 rpm                                           - Check idle speed stepper motor.

and confirm with YES key.

* only possible when trouble code 21 or 22 are not present.

If the nominal engine speed e.g. is increased from 1000 rpm to 1500 rpm with the arrow keys, then, after actuation of the "F9" key, the adjustment operation is captured in the snapshot mode. The adjustment operation can now be read off from the memory.

E.g.:  how the integrator or the injection period is modified by this manipulation.

Also, all other data, such as the stepper motor adjustment or ignition timing, can now be retrieved.

Important:    The throttle valve potentiometer value must not be changed, as engine speed adjustment is only carried out at the idle air control stepper motor.
