Camshaft Housing, Replace

 

Remove cylinder head.

See corresponding operation.

Remove camshaft housing from cylinder head and set aside on appropriate supporting base.

With carburettor engines, remove fuel pump.

Remove camshaft housing cover.

On engines with partly encased toothed belt cover remove camshaft timing gear.

In doing so, counterhold at camshaft with flat spanner.

Remove thrust plate from camshaft housing.

Pull camshaft out of housing.

Clean parts, inspect visually, if necessary replace.

 

Note:

When replacing camshaft, always replace all rocker arms.

Before installing camshaft, coat sliding surfaces with MOS2 Lubricating Paste.

Carefully insert camshaft in new housing and install thrust plate.

With carburettor engines, install fuel pump.

Use new gasket.

Install front camshaft seal ring using KM-422.

Use new seal ring.

 

Tightening torque:

thrust plate to camshaft housing - 8 Nm/6 lbf. ft. fuel pump to camshaft housing - 18 Nm/13 lbf. ft.

On engines with partly encased toothed belt cover attach camshaft timing gear.

In doing so, counterhold at camshaft with flat spanner.

Install camshaft housing cover with new gasket.

 

Tightening torque:

camshaft sprocket to camshaft - 45 Nm/33 lbf. ft.

camshaft housing cover to housing - 8 Nm/6 lbf. ft.

Install cylinder head.
