Piston Rings, Replace

Remove piston.

See corresponding operation in this group.

Remove piston rings using piston ring expander.

Remove carbon deposits from grooves using broken piston ring filed to a wedge.

When installing new piston rings, ensure that "TOP" marking of middle ring is on top and that ring gap is offset 180°, to gap of next ring.

Expand piston ring in cylinder and measure gap with a feeler gauge.

Required piston ring sizes and permitted piston ring gaps are given in the Technical Data.

Pull in piston rings and install piston.
