Valve Spring, Replace

Unscrew spark plug of respective cylinder. Turn crankshaft to put piston of this cylinder at "TDC".

Both valves of this cylinder will then be closed.

Screw Valve Holder KM-257 into tapped hole for spark plug. Position the retaining finger, which protrudes into the combustion chamber, on the valve head by turning the wing screw.

Lock with wing nut.

Unscrew valve cover and valve adjusting nut.

Remove ball piece, rocker arm and tappet push rod.

Install Valve Spring Compressor KM-261 on rocker arm shaft.

Screw on an M 8 nut with washer and tighten until valve spring is pressed down far enough to clear the valve keys.

Remove valve keys and release valve spring.

Remove compressor and spring.

Install new valve spring.

Remove compressor and holder.

Install spark plug - 20 Nm/15 lbf. ft.

Adjust valve clearance and install valve cover.
