Engine without Transmission, Remove and Install
Disconnect battery.
Remove air cleaner.
Disconnect red positive cable (1) from battery positive
cable.
Disconnect multiplug (2) and pull positive cable through
bulkhead at grommet (3).
Remove bonnet.

Remove lower coolant hose from radiator and collect coolant.
Remove coolant hoses from engine.
Remove bowden cables for throttle valve and choke valve.

|
|
Remove fuel hoses from fuel pump and disconnect fuel return
line.
First close fuel return lines with spring clips.
|
|
|
Remove all electric lead connections that lead to engine.
Remove oil filter cartridge with oil filter bracket from
engine block.
|
|
|
Remove ground strap from transmission.
Pull drive shaft.
See operation "Clutch, Remove and Install" in
group K.
Remove front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold.

|
Remove engine support completely.
Remove lower mounting bolt securing clutch housing to
engine.
|
|
|
Attach hoisting cable to engine and fasten to lifter.
Remove front right engine suspension bracket.
Suport transmission with jack.
|
|
|
Unbolt upper fastening bolts - clutch housing to engine
block.
|
|
|
Press engine away from clutch housing and lift upwards out
of engine compartment.
Important:
When lifting out, take care that no parts get deformed or
damaged.

|
Engine, Install
Bring engine into angular position, lower in engine
compartment and insert in centre of clutch housing.
Important:
When lowering, take care that no parts get deformed or
damaged.
Bolt in upper fastening bolts - clutch housing to engine
block - 65 Nm/48 lbf. ft.

|
|
Install front right engine suspension bracket.
Tightening torque:
Engine suspension bracket to damping block (M10) -
60 Nm/44 lbf. ft.
Engine suspension bracket to cylinder block (M10) -
65 Nm */48 lbf. ft.
*) When re-using lower fastening bolts re-cut and insert
with Locking Compound 15 10 177 (90 167 347).
Lower engine with hoisting cable and remove transmission
support.

|
Mount oil filter cartridge with oil filter bracket to engine
block - 20 Nm/15 lbf. ft.
Use new gasket.
Mount front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold -
20 Nm/15 lbf. ft.
Mount drive shaft.
See operation "Clutch, Remove and Install" in
group K.
Install engine support.
Mount clutch housing lower fastening bolt to engine block.

Connect fuel return line.
Mount fuel hose to fuel pump.
Remove spring clips.
|
|
|
Mount bowden cables for throttle valve and choke valve
without tensioning.
Mount coolant hoses.
Mount bonnet.
Restore all loosened lead connections.
Check cooling system for leaks.
Top up cooling system and bleed.
See corresponding operations.
Install air cleaner.
Connect battery.
