Oil Pump, Remove and Install/0il Pump, Overhaul

Remove oil pan.

See operation "Oil Pan Seal", Replace"

Unscrew oil pump using splined wrench and remove together with intake manifold.

Unscrew plugs for oil pressure regulating valve.

Remove spring and valve cone.

Unscrew pump cover.

Remove cogs.

Clean all parts, check for wear and replace if necessary.

Install gears without oil and measure backlash with feeler gauge.

Place straight edge over pump gears and measure distance with feeler gauge.

Replace cover if worn on face.

Reassemble pump.

Apply thick coat of engine oil to all sliding surfaces, gear teeth flanks and pressure regulator.

Always use new pump cover seal.

Install oil pump - 20 Nm/15 lbf. ft.

Install oil pan.
