Oil Pan Gasket, Replace

Drain engine oil.

immediately after draining, fit plug with a new seal ring, screw in and tighten.

Tightening torque: bleeding screw to oil pan - 45 Nm / 33 lbf. ft.

Unbolt engine support from clutch housing and engine block.

Remove oil pan.

Clean sealing surfaces of engine block and oil pan to remove pieces of gasket.

Make a bead (approx. 3 mm/0.12 in. dia.) of Sealant, Catalogue No. 15 03 294 (90 001 851), along rear edges of rear crankshaft bearing cap and cylinder block, as well as between edges of front bearing cap and cylinder block, and on the cylinder block sealing surface itself.

Place cork gaskets on sealing surfaces of engine block and bearing caps.

After placing the cork gasket in position, make another bead of sealant on the rear edges of the rear crankshaft bearing cap and between the front edges of the front bearing cap.

Install oil pan - 5 Nm/4 lbf. ft.

Install bolts with Locking Compound 15 10 177 (90 167 347).

Install engine support.

Top up engine oil to mark "MAX" of dipstick.
