Identification of Transmission
The manual transmission identification (transmission number)
is a combination of numbers embossed on the end shield.
Example: "140 2 2 C 374 ..."
(1) = Manufacturing plant
140 (2) = Day in year
2 (3) = Last digit of year
2 (4) = Work shift (1 = early shift,
2 = late shift)
W (6) = Transmission code/high ratio
C (6) = Transmission code/low ratio
374 (7) = Drive ratio
... (5) = Space for numbers or letters for
special use
When replacing end shield cover, ensure that identification
number is marked on new cover.
