Fuel Tank Sensor - Bayonet Catch System

Subject:              Fuel Tank Sensor with Bayonet Catch

 

Vehicles:             All as of Model Year '92

 

As of Model Year '92, the previously used metal fuel tank sensor is being gradually replaced by a plastic fuel tank sensor.

 

For installation operations on the plastic fuel tank sensor, proceed as described for previous operations in the relevant Service Instructions.

For safety reasons, a protective cap is additionally attached to the plastic fuel tank sensor. Installation of the cap is described below.

 

 

Note:

 

The metal fuel tank sensor (version with bayonet catch) can be replaced by a plastic fuel tank sensor with a protective cap without additional installation work.

 

 

Remove fuel lines - mark installation position.

 

Important:        Before removing, close off fuel lines with spring clamps. Observe general safety regulations regarding handling of flammable liquids.

 

Remove protective cap (1) together with wiring plug (2).

 

Install protective cap, wiring plug and fuel lines - ensure that they are in good condition and firmly seated.
