Wiring Harness, Rear, Replace
The Parts and Accessories Department supplies only complete wiring harness sets, i.e. both the front and rear sections are included.
The wiring harness must be separated to avoid replacing the front section along with the rear section when only the rear section requires replacement and vice versa. See also "Wiring Harness, Complete, Replace".
Lay the rear wiring harness in accordance with "Location of Wiring Harness". The separation point for the rear wiring harness is behind the left side panel. The individual cables are to be connected in accordance with the circuit diagram. Removal and installation of the various components are to be carried out in accordance with the appropriate operational description.
Remove
Remove centre console, if installed. Remove storage tray. Remove left side cowl trim panel (front side footwell inner panelling). Remove left sill panel. Remove rear seat. Disconnect wiring harness plug from rear lamps and components.
Disconnect wiring harness plug from license plate lamp. Separate rear screen heater cable. Pull wiring harness forward into passenger compartment.
Separate wiring harness at point "A" shown in illustration D 4785.
Install
Separate new wiring harness at the same point.
Connect conductors of rear wiring harness section with those of front section with suitable connectors, using insulation colours as guide.
Install wiring harness in reverse order.
