Remove and install front seat – see operation "Front Seat, Remove and Install" in group "C".

Access through bore which has to be made in vehicle underbody from outside. Use centre punching mark on vehicle underbody.

Drill Ø 34 mm bore, deburr edge and remove swarf, apply corrosion protection.

Remove spacer plate.

Position centrepunch (A). Rebore spot weld with Ø 8 mm drill bit. Lever off spacer plate with chisel.

Renew threaded plate (seat belt version):

Drill off 4 spot welds from above with Ø 8 mm drill bit.

Position conical punch in threaded hole and punch off threaded plate from below remove with long-nosed pliers. Align mounting plate for spacer plate. Check with straight edge.

  Install

Perform safety precautions to prevent sparking and fire hazards when welding. Insert new threaded plate, screw in bolt for detent and weld threaded plate from above while counterholding with narrow aligning bar.

Attach spacer plate.

Unscrew detent screw and weld spacer plate to old fastening point. The square hole in the spacer plate must lie congruent with square hole in reinforcement.

Grind spot weld flat. Seal spot weld and bore with corrosion protection.

Cement bore with galvanised plate (50 x 50 x 1 mm) (Adhesive 90 295 281 / 15 04 803) and secure with aluminium blind rivets (Ø 5.2 mm) with flush head (Ø 10 mm), then apply underseal.

Install front seat.
