Seal Ring - Drive Shaft, Replace > < Axle Alignment Values (Omega-B, Tigra)

Drive Shaft, Remove and Install or Replace

  Remove

Remove rear wheel.

Attach KM-468-B (1) to wheel hub with two wheel bolts. Detach drive shaft from wheel journal flange – 6 fastening bolts (2). Counterhold wheel hub with KM-468-B.

Press drive shaft from flange and lay aside upwards – if necessary: use tyre lever.

Remove drive shaft from differential using KM-617 (1).

Caution

Chamfered side of tool always points towards rear differential. Ensure that KM-617 is correctly applied, so that pulse pick-up for wheel sensor is not disturbed during removal. When replacing the drive shaft: Convert wheel sensor pulse pick-up (2) – see operation "Pulse-Pickup – Wheel Sensor, Replace" in group "H".

  Install

Replace retaining ring (1) on splines of transmission-side drive shaft joint. Coat drive shaft splines with special fluid. Insert drive shaft in rear differential until retaining ring engages, drive in with suitable drift (2) if necessary. Apply drift at screw (arrow) – ensure correct seating of pulse pick-up in relation to wheel sensor.

Caution

Do not strike protective cap of joint.

  Install

Insert drive shaft in wheel journal flange, if necessary carefully lever in with tyre lever. Align pitch circle.

Fit all washers and retaining screws to input shaft flange – tightening torque 50 Nm / 37 lbf. ft., then continue turning with KM-470-B (1) through another 60° + 15°. While doing so, support wheel hub with KM-468-B (2).

  Inspect

If necessary, correct differential fluid level to lower edge of checking aperture – see operation "Fluid Level, Check and Correct".

Mount rear wheel – tightening torque 110 Nm / 81 lbf. ft.
