  Remove

Detach rear cover plates for vehicle jack on both sides.

Attach KM-6194 (2) to vehicle jack point. Raise vehicle – attach rear lifting platform arms to KM-6194 – ensure rear axle retaining plates (1) remain freely accessible.

Remove rear wheels.

Detach exhaust system downstream from catalytic converter, remove retaining plates for damping rings and remove exhaust system (3) from vehicle underbody.

Detach retaining plates for brake pressure hoses from brackets on both sides of semi-trailing arm and remove brake pressure hoses from brackets.

Position hydraulic jack with KM-485 or KM-6195 and KM-904 under rear differential and bring to contact.

Detach rear axle body supporting strut (1) from vehicle underbody. Unbolt rear axle body damping bushing fastening bolt (2) from vehicle underbody.

Lower rear axle with hydraulic jack. Remove damper disc between rear axle body and vehicle underbody. Insert fastening bolt M 14 x 1.5 for rear axle body, into damping bushing from above and attach Remover MKM-557-A (3). Pull out damping bushing with KM-557-A.

Note:   If not yet modified: Modify Special Service Tool KM-618-2 (1) to changed shape of Omega-B rear axle body by welding on approx. 14 mm high pins (arrows) and use this side to install damping bushing. After modifying, change existing tool number to KM-618-2-A by adding "-A". KM-618-2-A tools are already modified.

  Install

Draw new damping bushing into rear axle body using KM-618-1 (2) and KM-618-2-A (3).

Install damper disc (1) between rear axle body and vehicle underbody. Raise rear axle with hydraulic jack to contact with vehicle underbody.

Attach supporting strut (2) of rear axle body to vehicle underbody with fastening bolts – tightening torque 65 Nm / 48 lbf. ft. Attach rear axle body to vehicle underbody with fastening bolts (3) – tightening torque 125 Nm / 92 lbf. ft.

Insert brake pressure hoses in bracket on semi-trailing arm and secure with locking plates. Lower hydraulic jack.

Suspend exhaust system (1) with damping rings from vehicle underbody and attach retaining plates for damping rings. Attach exhaust system to catalytic converters – tightening torque 25 Nm / 18.5 lbf. ft.

Attach rear wheels – tightening torque 110 Nm / 81 lbf. ft.

Detach KM-6194 (2) from jacking points for vehicle jack on both sides and attach cover plates for vehicle jack.
