Wheel Hub and/or Rear Wheel Bearing, Remove and Install or Replace > < Rear Springs, Replace

Radial and/or Lateral Runout of Wheel Hub, Check

  Remove

Remove rear wheel.

Remove brake calliper and suspend.

Remove brake disc, removing lock bolt and turning back brake shoes of parking brake slightly if necessary. If necessary, screw in two wheel bolts a few turns and turn wheel hub with a lever during measurement.

  Inspect

Radial runout of wheel hub:

Fasten dial gauge bracket of MKM-572 (1) to brake cover plate. Set probe (2) of dial gauge on outer diameter of wheel hub and measure radial runout.

Permissible lateral runout deviation: max. 0.05 mm.

If there is a deviation from the nominal value; replace wheel hub – see operation "Wheel Hub and/or Rear Wheel Bearing, Remove and Install or Replace".

Lateral runout of wheel hub:

Fasten dial gauge bracket of MKM-572 (1) to brake cover plate. Set probe (2) of dial gauge on front side of wheel hub and measure lateral runout.

Permissible radial runout: max. 0.05 mm.

If there is a deviation from the nominal value; replace wheel hub – see operation "Wheel Hub and/or Rear Wheel Bearing, Remove and Install or Replace".

  Install

Brake disc to front wheel hub – tightening torque 4 Nm / 3 lbf. ft.

Install brake calliper on semi-trailing arm – tightening torque 80 Nm / 59 lbf. ft.

Mount rear wheel – tightening torque 110 Nm / 81 lbf. ft.
