Notes on Repairs of ABS/TC

The entire ABS/TC unit must be checked following operations which affect the ABS/TC aggregates (e. g. accident repairs). Diagnosis can be performed using "TECH 1", "TECH 1A" or "TECH 2". Self-diagnosis of the ABS occurs at approx. 7 km/h, which may be available as a result of noises emitted from the return pump.

The following points must be observed when carrying out operations on vehicles with ABS/TC:

  • When carrying out electrical welding work, the plug must be disconnected from the electronic ABS/TC control unit.
  • During painting operations, the electronic ABS/TC control unit may be exposed indefinitely to a maximum of 80 °C / 176 °F.
  • After operations on the brake system, it must be bled and a pressure test be carried out.
  • Check all connections for leaks.
  • Ensure secure connections at the battery terminals.
  • Never use a battery booster to start the vehicle.
  • Ensure that all connections to the wiring harness are secure.
  • Never connect/disconnect the multiple plug to/from the electronic ABS/TC control unit with the ignition switched on.
