Note:
Test steps 07 and 08 are divided into three parts:
a) If
trouble code 37 has been stored: carry out above data list parameter tests
b) If the
nominal values for data list parameter 07 were not attained: start
trouble-shooting at data list parameter 07
c) If the
nominal values for data list parameter 08 were not attained: start
trouble-shooting at data list parameter 08

Trouble-shooting for data list parameter 07:
|
|
|
|
|
· Check bulb for brake lamps H9, H10, H36
and fuse F2
|
|
· Replace defective parts
|
|
|
|
|
If fuse F2 is defective, insert new fuse and repeat above
data list parameter tests. If this destroys the fuse again, proceed with the
following diagnostic step.
|
|
|
· Disconnect wiring harness plug from
brake lamp switch S8
· Ignition ON
· Using multimeter, measure voltage
from: wiring
harness plug for brake lamp switch S8 Ter. 1
to: ground
|
greater than 11 V
|
· Fuse F2 defective
· Short circuit to ground / circuit
interruption
from: wiring
harness plug for switch S1 Ter. 15
to: wiring
harness plug for brake lamp switch S8 Ter. 1
· Short circuit to ground
from: wiring
harness plug for switch S1 Ter. 15
to: wiring
harness plug for control unit, MID U16/ TID U15 Ter. 16
· Short circuit to ground
from: fuse

· Fault in circuit, MID U16/ TID U15

Disconnect following control units/ components from
wiring harness consecutively:
· Control unit, bulb control P25
· Control unit, automatic transmission
K85
· Control unit, ABS U4.8
· Electric selector lever pawl K102
(Japan only)
· Brake lamps H9, H10 and H36
While doing this, repeat the same test as described on the
left each time a control unit or component is disconnected from the wiring
harness.
If the nominal value is attained for one control unit/
component, the fault is in the circuit of the previously disconnected control
unit or component.

disconnected from wiring harness but nominal value not attained:
· Short circuit to voltage
